03.18.2020 COVID-19 Update

Category: COVID-19

Dear BIGGBY® Nation,

For 25 years, we have been proud to offer friendly, comfortable spaces for communities to gather, converse, study, celebrate, laugh, cry and share a cup of coffee. In these unprecedented times, however, we must prioritize the health and well-being of those communities which we cherish so greatly.

Effective March 17, we have made the decision to transition all stores to carry-out and drive-thru service only. In addition, as is typical in franchising, the BIGGBY® COFFEE franchisor requires coffee shops to be open during certain hours. With health and safety of staff and customers as top priority, we now permit local owners the flexibility to determine appropriate hours for their locations.  Please be sure to check on the hours of your local coffee shop before you venture out to get your favorite BIGGBY® beverage.

With these changes in mind, we had to consider our celebration around BIGGBY® COFFEE’s 25th Birthday on March 25th, 2020. With the progression of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone BIGGBY®’s 25th Birthday Celebration. While saddened by this, we feel this is a necessary step to slow the transmission of COVID-19 but look forward to thanking our amazing fanatics with .99c drinks on a future date!

Additionally, we wanted to remind you of other protocols we’ve put in place to mitigate the spread of the virus:

  • Brewed coffee will no longer be self-served and will be prepared by baristas. If you need any items for your drinks, your barista will be more than happy to help you.
  • We will suspend the preparation of beverages in personal mugs and the refill of single-serving cups.
  • In addition to typical sanitation protocols, the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing processes will be significantly increased, as well as hand washing by baristas.
  • Staff members have been directed to stay home and seek medical attention at the first signs of symptoms.
  • We are following the direction of local, state and federal authorities and the guidelines laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.

We believe in people and we are very fortunate to have the best owner/operators who we want to personally thank for their calm professionalism and quick action during this time. We will monitor the situation closely and take the necessary steps to keep our communities, customers, owner/operators, baristas, vendor partners and each other healthy, happy and caffeinated.

We are here.

With love and gratitude,

Bob Fish and Michael McFall
