BIGGBY TO OPEN NEW DRIVE-THRU LOCATION IN LANSING

Home-town coffee brand will open on Michigan Ave. in Lansing on Oct. 4

EAST LANSING, MI, Sept. 19, 2012 – BIGGBY COFFEE is heading back to its roots as the company readies to open its newest location less than five miles from the original BIGGBY store! The new store, complete with a convenient drive-thru window, will open at 500 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing on Thursday, Oct. 4

Located just a block from the Paramount Roasting Facility, where all BIGGBY coffee beans are roasted, store owner, Mohamed Shetiah, said he is excited for this store to be involved with the hustle and bustle of the downtown business district, and to have another location in the area where so many long-time BIGGBY fanatics live and work.

“This location is going to be a great stop for those traveling into, and out of downtown Lansing,” Shetiah said. “It will have the best of both worlds; with the relaxing, friendly BIGGBY COFFEE shop atmosphere inside and an easy in, easy out option for those on the go.”

Shetiah and his company own more than 20 BIGGBY locations throughout mid-Michigan and Ohio, and were the very first BIGGBY franchisees in the company’s system. Shetiah opened his first store in Lansing in 1997, and today also owns and operates the original location in East Lansing.

“It’s very exciting for our company to have the opportunity to open this store and we are all very thankful to our local customers who continue to show their love and support for the BIGGBY brand,” Bob Fish, BIGGBY CEO and co-founder, said. “For more than 17 years we have been a part of this community and there is no place I’d rather be.”

Along with a drive-thru window, the store will also offer free Wi-Fi and will be open Monday- Saturday 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.

About BIGGBY COFFEE®
East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 157 cafes open or under contract across eight states including:  Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas.  For more information, visit www.biggby.com.
