Childhood Friends Come Together to Open BIGGBY COFFEE

Madison Heights, Mich., June 16, 2008 – Lansing Mich.-based coffee retailer, BIGGBY COFFEE, will celebrate the opening of a new location in Madison Heights on Tuesday, June 17.  The store, located 31055 John R. Road, will open thanks to the efforts of childhood friends Dan Banu, Dan Bora and Mike Guler.

The three men, originally from Romania, met and became friends at their local church and have been active in the community raising funds for church-sponsored mission trips.  The group worked well together, and eventually formed a plan to open a business.

“Five years ago, Dan, Mike and I were driving through Lansing when we stopped to fuel up and asked the clerk where we could find a good place to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee,” said owner Dan Banu.  “Before we knew it, we were at BIGGBY and realized that this was exactly the type of experience we had been looking for and we’re so excited to now be opening our own franchise.”

The new location will open for business at 6 a.m. on June 17 and offer free brewed coffee through Sunday to celebrate the occasion. The store is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The new store will bring nearly 20 new full and part-time jobs to the area.
