First BIGGY COFFEE Location to Open in West Michigan

Grand Rapids, Mich., November 30, 2007 – Lansing Mich.-based coffee retailer, BEANER’S COFFEE, will unveil its new BIGGBY COFFEE moniker to West Michigan on Monday, December 3 with the opening of a new store at 4575 West River Dr. in Comstock Park. Two additional BIGGBY COFFEE shops are scheduled to open in December—at 1215 Fuller in Grand Rapids, on December 10; and at 3910 Chicago Drive in Grandville, on December 17. The three stores mark the 14th, 15th and 16th area locations respectively, for a total of 83 locations nationwide.
All three locations will offer free brewed coffee during their respective Grand Opening week celebrations.
BIGGBY COFFEE, founded in 1995, was formerly known as BEANER’S COFFEE. The company announced it would change its name this past fall over concerns that its former name might be considered a disparaging term. All new stores are opened as BIGGBY COFFEE shops, and the remaining stores will convert in January of 2008.
While it’s the first BIGGBY COFFEE location in West Michigan, it’s the third location for Comstock Parkfranchisee Steve Antaya. “I’m a big believer in what we do,” said Antaya. “I started as a customer, so I know how unique the BIGGBY experience is from that vantage. I believe that’s a big reason why we’ve been successful thus far.”
The Grand Rapids-area growth is in line with the Company’s plan to expand its retail presence in the Midwest and South by 60 percent before 2010.
All three of the new stores are open seven days a week and feature drive thru service, free wireless internet access and plentiful seating for student and business group meetings.
In combination, the new stores will bring more than 60 new full and part-time jobs to the West Michigan area.
BIGGBY COFFEE continues its rapid ascent in the gourmet coffee retail sector with a 53 percent increase in system-wide sales in 2006— nearly half of that realized as new store growth.
