BIGGBY VOTED “BEST COFFEE HOUSE” OF MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
Founded in 1995, the East Lansing-based coffee shop remains city’s favorite

EAST LANSING, Mich.  March 27, 2012 – Just days after celebrating their 17th anniversary as a company, BIGGBY COFFEE has reason to let the celebration continue! The coffee shop, with more than 20 locations in the Lansing area, was recently named “Best Coffee House of MSU” by readers of Michigan State University’s newspaper, The State News.

The newspaper’s yearly contest, profiles businesses in greater Lansing and asks readers to vote for their favorites in a wide range of categories. Based on online voting, winners take home the title of “Best of MSU” in their respected categories. With more than 33,000 total voters throughout this year’s the month-long contest, Bob Fish, BIGGBY co-founder, CEO, and MSU alum, said it’s an honor to remain a favorite in the city where it all began.

“Since we opened that first store on campus in East Lansing, one of our goals has always been to be an extension of the city and the MSU community,” Fish said. “It’s a great feeling to know that after almost 20 years, people still love BIGGBY and generations of MSU students and faculty have made it their home away from home.”

Today, with more than 120 location open in 75 cities, and recognition that includes being named the Fastest Growing Coffee Chain in the U.S. by CNBC in 2011, Fish and co-founder, Mary Roszel, still think back to the years of working behind the counter in that first store and serving some of the very first BIGGBY customers.

“The community support we’ve received since day one has made all the difference and I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who is a part of our BIGGBY family today,” Fish said. “Without a doubt we also have great franchisees, and without them we would not be where we are today.”

BIGGBY, along with the other “Best of MSU” winners, will all be mentioned in the April 6th edition of The State News, or online at:www.statenews.com

About BIGGBY COFFEE®
East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 144 cafes open or under contract across seven states including: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas.  For more information, visit www.biggby.com.
